# Use Kasti from your AI tools

Kasti has an MCP server, so your AI tools can save thoughts for you and look up what you wrote, without you leaving your work.

## Connect

The server is at `https://kasti.app/mcp`. It uses Streamable HTTP and OAuth, so there's no key to copy. You sign in once with your Kasti account. MCP is part of Pro.

### Claude Code

Run this, then use `/mcp` inside Claude Code to sign in.

```
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user kasti https://kasti.app/mcp
```

### Codex

```
codex mcp add kasti --url https://kasti.app/mcp
codex mcp login kasti
```

### Cursor

Add this to `~/.cursor/mcp.json`. Cursor will ask you to sign in.

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "kasti": {
      "url": "https://kasti.app/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### T3 Code and other tools

Add the same URL as an MCP server. Any MCP client that supports OAuth can connect.

## What your tools can do

- `capture_thought`: Save a thought to the user's Kasti in their own words (stored verbatim; never paraphrase or tidy it up). By default Kasti then processes it (searches past thoughts) and returns the best pending connection suggestion, which takes a few seconds. Set wait_for_connection=false to save instantly and process in the background (then use get_suggestion later).
- `get_suggestion`: Return the single best pending connection Kasti suggests between two of the user's thoughts: both thoughts (verbatim), the linking passages, and Kasti's explanation. Present it to the user and record their verdict with respond_to_suggestion. Returns a note if nothing is pending.
- `respond_to_suggestion`: Record the USER's verdict on a suggested connection (only after they have decided). verdict=accept keeps it. verdict=reject drops it; give a reason (unrelated | obvious | misunderstood | not_useful) and optionally a note, so Kasti learns. verdict=correct keeps the link but replaces Kasti's explanation with the user's correction (required).
- `search_thoughts`: List the user's thoughts, newest first, optionally filtered by a case-insensitive text match on the thought. Returns ids and verbatim text; use get_thought for passages and connections.
- `get_thought`: Return one thought: the original text (verbatim, the user's words), the passages Kasti reads from it, and the connections the user has accepted or corrected.
- `list_connections`: List connections between thoughts that the user accepted or corrected, strongest first. A corrected connection's `correction` is the user's own explanation and supersedes Kasti's.
- `get_insight`: Return Kasti's latest observation across the user's thoughts (a pattern, a tension or a shift over time) with the thoughts it rests on. Kasti produces at most one a day; this returns the current one, generating a new one when due. It is an interpretation: present it as such.
- `get_usage`: Return the user's plan and how many thoughts Kasti's AI has connected against the plan's limit: this calendar month on Pro, or in total on the free trial. Available on every plan; all other tools need Pro.

## How tools should treat your words

Kasti gives every connected tool the same rules. Your thoughts are saved as you said them, never reworded. Connections are shown as Kasti's suggestions, not your statements. Only you can accept or reject one.

## Questions

### What is MCP?

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets AI tools connect to apps and data. Kasti's MCP server is how Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and others reach your notes.

### Does the MCP server work on the free trial?

You can connect and check your usage, but the other tools need Pro. Your thoughts stay available in the Kasti app either way.

### What can a connected tool see?

It can read and add thoughts on your behalf until you revoke its access. It only reaches your own account, after you sign in.
